How the package is split

The package mode assumes the entire package consists of cash salary plus employer super calculated at the displayed rate on all that cash salary. It divides the package by one plus that rate, then estimates personal income tax on the cash component.

This is a contract illustration within the tool’s supported input limit. It assumes no other benefits or package deductions and applies the displayed contribution rate to the full cash salary.

Check the employer’s actual terms

Super guarantee rules refer to qualifying earnings and a contribution base. An employment agreement can affect what is paid. The package illustration does not establish your employer’s legal minimum super obligation.

  • Confirm whether the quoted amount includes or excludes super.
  • Check whether the package includes benefits, allowances or insurance.
  • Check the contribution rate and whether the employer caps its earnings base.

Super is separate from take-home pay

The employer-super amount is shown before any tax or fees inside the super fund. Salary sacrifice, personal deductible contributions and benefits packaging need additional rules and are outside this calculator. Do not enter those arrangements as an ordinary salary package.

Common questions

Can I use this to calculate salary sacrifice savings?

No. Salary sacrifice can change taxable income and other income tests. This mode only separates the stated package using its displayed super assumption.
